Well, I can finally share my kitchen decor! I’ve been yelling to the sky how apartment dwellers shouldn’t neglect their kitchens when decorating their apartments. I LOVE dealing with small spaces and although there’s not much you can do when you rent, I’m here to show you how I made my kitchen pretty – and functional.
Here’s my kitchen before:
And here’s what it looks like now:
I know the pic above isn’t the best. Hopefully the ones below will make up for it. I knew I wanted to paint the back wall black and that I wanted an ivy plant in here. The ivy is holding up pretty well. **crossing fingers**
Installing these shelves was the first thing – and best thing – I did in this tiny kitchen. I know that it doesn’t seem like the shelves hold much, but it definitely helps clear up some of my cabinet space.
I’m so happy about this pineapple photograph I made. It still makes me smile each time I enter the kitchen. I already knew that I wanted to do black and white in the kitchen, but Miss Sasha (that’s my pineapple’s name) made me want to add some green, too. You can also see a little yellow both in the candle on the left and the teeny elephant at the bottom shelf on the right.
These shot glasses aren’t really fancy and I’m not big drinker, but I’m sure that they get the job done. Plus they’re black, so they match with the rest of the decor. They’re from World Market, too.
My his and her (lips and mustache) glasses are sooooooo adorable. The boo doesn’t use his, but I usually drink my favorite drink out of it: Ocean Spray Cranberry-Pom. These came from Burlington Coat Factory for like $2.99 a piece. I most definitely would have paid a lot more for these.
The left side of the sink has my bowls and my little zebra. I think I got that from Burlington Coat Factory, too, and paid less than $15 for it. I also use this cute basket from Michael’s (on sale for $2.49) to hold the seasonings that we use most often.
I’m not sure where I got these bad boys, but I know they were super cheap. I needed containers to hold my pastas, rice, and beans and these are perfect. I was planning on labeling them somehow, but decided against it. I like them without any embellishments. I mean, we can literally see that there are beans, rice, and pasta in there, right? If you can’t see that… you need to see the eye doctor…
These really cute black and white baskets came from Ross. At $5.99 a basket, how could I pass them up. I usually put stuff like chips, candy, and other snacks in them.
I’d love to hear what you think! Be sure to leave me a comment below.
Till next time,
