Why Choose Whitney J Decor

I excel at creative problem solving and love helping a client realize the home of their dreams, even when there might be budget or space constraints. I’m a beast at wrangling contractors and exceeding expectations. I also have a great support team that helps me pull off the amazing projects I’ve become know for.

Design Philosophy

It’s simple: infuse your personality into a beautiful, functional space you’ve only dreamed of – that doesn’t break the bank. I pride myself in giving my clients the best design their money can buy to present a beautifully executed transformation.

My Design Style

Bold. Eclectic. Global. Chic. Modern(ish). Blending in the Unexpected.

I enjoy creating spaces full of personality and style. Space planning, creating customized fabric and color schemes, and working with the best tradesmen, are a few of the processes I use to produce timeless, livable interiors.

I go for a “collected” vibe in my interiors, injecting my clients’ style and personality. Mixing metals, unique fabrics, bold color and art, and comfy furniture pulls it all together.

A Little About Me

I’ve started my design business officially in 2012, but I’ve had a love for décor since I was a little girl. I used to move our bedroom and living room furniture around often (which bred my love for space planning) and asked for décor for Christmas gifts. While I did love toys, my most fun was with the ones that made me make believe with real(ish) home furnishings, like doll houses and the Easy-Bake oven.

I’m a New Orleans native and conduct most business with clients in my area, but since starting my design business, I’ve worked with clients all around the US and even some outside the US, like the UK and Australia. I was named a Design Master in the Fall 2017 issue of New Orleans Homes & Lifestyles magazine and my work was featured in our local newspaper, The Times-Picayune, and online publications, like The Olive Guide.

I’ve spent years perfecting my processes in space planning, project management, CAD software, and design.

My design studio is in Gretna, LA and in the front our studio, we also have a cute home decor shop full of home accessories, art, furniture, and giftware. We also have wallpaper, lighting, rugs, and more available to order. Find out more about our studio and shop here.

Blogging About All Things Home

When I’m not working on client projects, I’m spending time blogging or hanging out with my family. I love reading and at one time was at 4 novels a week. My favorites are Sci-fi novels, but I love reading slave narratives and World War II novels, as well.

On the blog, you’ll see room transformations, easy-to-replicate DIY projects, and lots of home décor and organization tips.

And, I’m on all social media platforms, but I’m most active on Instagram. Come on over and say HI!

Till next time,
