Glittered Painted Purple Pumpkin + DIY Pumpkin Challenge Entries

I can’t believe 2015 is almost over! October is flying right past me.

Each month I do a DIY challenge and this month’s assignment was to create pumpkins. In addition to the monthly challenge, I also give each participant an “assignment” which could be a color, theme, or material that needs to be incorporated into the item that needs to be made.

I decorated my pumpkin with metallic purple paint and purple tinsel glitter (my “assignment” was to incorporate glitter). I wanted it to be a bit girly, so I can give it to my niece. Right now, it’s sitting on a shelf in my office. (See my office tour here.)

You KNOW I love simple DIY projects, so this DIY pumpkin was easy-peasy.

Here’s what you need:

Pumpkin
Acrylic Paint
Glue
Glitter
Paint Brush

Here’s what you need to do:

Step 1: Since I like things done the quick way, my small bottle of purple paint made it easy to just squeeze paint all over the pumpkin. Then, I used my paint brush to spread the paint.
Step 2: Let the paint dry and paint a second coat
Step 3: Paint glue on the pumpkin stem and anywhere else on the pumpkin that you’d like to attach glitter.
Step 4: Sprinkle glitter where you put the glue and let dry. Dust off extra glitter.

[line] Here are some of the other pumpkins that were made for the DIY pumpkin challenge:

diy paper pumpkins to hold candy — Miranda’s assignment was to use paper. She made these paper pumpkins for her son’s Fall Festival. They hold candy. Cute!!

feather pumpkin — Ricardo’s assignment was “feathers”. I love everything about this! It reminds me of Mardi Gras here in New Orleans. Ricardo’s a fellow Interior Designer. Make sure you follow him on Instagram to check out his amazing room designs!

I had to ask Tammy to tell me how to make these fabric pumpkins, because I have some burgundy fabric that I really want to use to make my own. Her assignment was fabric.
