Sometimes (key word: sometimes) decorating your home can be as easy as making a few simple changes. If you’ve been feeling like your space seems a bit boring, try some of the below 8 updates that can be done in a weekend.
Paint a piece of furniture.
If you have an old piece of furniture that is ugly and can use some care, paint it. Paint will hide most imperfections and you can make it a conversation piece by painting it a bold color.
Paint your exterior door.
To give your front façade a face lift, paint your front door. Your new door will brighten your exterior and perk you up each time you come home (and leave out).
Slipcover your sofa.
Slipcovers are a quick, inexpensive way to update your living room. Your old boring sofa can take on a whole new style, color, and personality.
Change the pillows on your sofa.
Updating your pillows are another cheap, quick way to refresh your space. Pillows can be changed as often as you like and can be moved from room to room.
Buy a new rug.
Get a new rug that matches your color scheme or the color scheme that you want. A rug is an instant room refresher and grounds your furniture.
Get some fresh flowers.
Fresh flowers will freshen up your space and add color.
Remove ALL clutter.
Get rid of clutter. It makes your home look (and feel) crowded and dirty. Throw away (or move) anything that doesn’t belong, is broken, or serves no purpose in the space. Decluttering will give your room a new look and will feel fresh and clean
Organize your space.
After you’ve decluttered, you want to make sure you reorganize. It’s extremely important to make sure that you know where everything is and have a designated spot for everything in your home. Try using decorative boxes and baskets, cubbies, and shelving to corral like items and have a cohesive look. I’ve recently done an organization challenge to help you guys get your home decluttered and organized. Check that out here.
So, will you be doing any of these updates to freshen up your space? Have any tips you’d like to add? Leave a comment below!
