I haven’t posted here in a while, but if you follow me on Instagram (do that now, if you don’t), you’d know that I was chosen as one of four designers to decorate a room in the Longue Vue House & Gardens in New Orleans. It was such a fun experience!
The Longue Vue mansion was built in 1942 by Edith and Edgar Stern as a private residence, with the idea that one day the home would be turned into something much more special. Because of the Stern’s wishes, the house has since become a place of inspiration and interactive discovery for anyone that wants to bask in its beauty. I was really lucky in getting to chose the room that I wanted to decorate. I chose the dining room, since in my opinion, it’s the most beautiful room in the house. It has all the original furnishings and decor from when the home was built.

The Longue Vue dining room has this really beautiful chinoiserie wallpaper (made from rice paper – oooooohhhh) that I wanted to base my color scheme on. The wallpaper is really old, so it’s peeling all over, but that makes it even more interesting and pretty to me.
I went with a blue, green, gold, and silver color scheme, and sprinkled in some white, as well. And, because the room is mostly green already, I mainly had to just bring in the other colors. I love the way this room turned out!
Let’s first start with my tree, since it’s my favorite part of the room! I love decorating Christmas trees!
I used beautiful iridescent teal ornaments, along with white, gold, and silver ornaments. I also draped this really pretty blue ribbon on the tree and used some blue cherry picks.
ZGallerie sponsored a lot of the product in the room, providing me with the ability to do this beautiful tablescape. Although I’ve been given product, all opinions are truthful and mine.
I styled the ZGallerie Jules Cloches with these pretty green cardboard trees underneath and it looked fabulous! Initially, I was planning on using ZGallerie’s luxor beaded table runner, but opted for the white fur for some dimension and texture.
The other product used on the table are the silver greek key placemats, silver paramount chargers, silver marble dinner plates, silver marble bowls, and glisten string lights.
The dining room has a beautiful table in between the large windows that made for the perfect spot for a cute little holiday vignette. I styled some Grand Marnier with the ZGallerie Victoria Double Old Fashioned set on a beautiful brass tray and the white 3′ LED glitter tree.
The fresh wreath was a last minute purchase. After putting the room together, I realized that I needed a little something in the window. I’m so happy I added it! It’s so pretty. It came partially decorating with berries and pinecones, but I added a few blue ornaments.
One of the things I’ve been obsessed with this holiday season, is using ribbon to dress up plain furnishings that you already have. I did that here with some simple blue pillows that’s been stuck in my guest room closet for months. The gold ribbon makes the pillows a little more fancy and gave it a bit of an old-fashioned look. Perfect for this vintage room.
I used the the Versa 6-light pillar candle holder here with a set of the glisten string lights.
Over the fireplace I kept it pretty and simple, because (1) I couldn’t hang anything on the walls (understandably) and (2) the mantle is 3-4″ deep max. The pretty wreath and trees were dressed up with gold and blue ribbons.
This buffet is another one of my favorite spots in the room. I used lots of fresh garland, beautiful blue/copper candle holders, and tall metal tree sculpture that I can’t wait to use again next year! (Our decor stays up in the room until the beginning of January.) I also used another set of the glisten string lights.
