Have you ever had a fresh Christmas tree and opted to just do white lights and no ornaments? I got a red Christmas tree and it’s beautiful! Totally works as is!
It’s a real tree, so it smells amazing, but is also really messy.
I’ve been really busy and have been scared that I wouldn’t be able to go shopping for some new ornaments and other decor for the tree. I’m sure this tree would look amazing with just white lights, but y’all know I’m extra… I’m just gonna have to make it happen!
Why, red? Because, I really wanted something different! I love the traditional Christmas decor, but I love to add my own twist to it. Well, I told Shawn that I wanted a red or gold flocked tree, but then told him that I would just use our faux tree from last year. I really didn’t think I would have time to mess around with a new tree and new decor, so I was just over the idea of starting fresh. BUT, we recently decided to host Christmas at our new house this year (I haven’t officially told family, yet), and he brought home the tree one night. It completely surprised me, because I hadn’t told him that a new tree was on again, LOL. I’m so glad, though, because I really want to make a big statement with the decor in my home for the party. You’ll hear more about that in a later post.
This tree is huge and the color itself is really bold. I want to soften the look with some brown and gray tones, along with green and gold ornaments and tree picks. I REALLY want to do a wide plaid ribbon. Shawn will LOVE that. You’ll see below the kind of plaid I want to get. I love the green string of pearls pick and hope I can find some at Michaels today.

Since the tree is so bold, I really want to balance it with some green and gold picks and ornaments. I’ll add some other faux greenery to bring in a different texture to the tree, along with some beautiful ribbons. I have no idea what my plan is for a “tree topper”. If y’all have ideas, let me know!
I have really beautiful silver ornaments already, which sucks, because I want to stay away from silver on this tree and instead do gold. I’ll also add lots of acrylic and glass ornaments and garland for added sparkle. I have no intention on taking away from the beauty of this red Christmas tree, I’ll just add to it with pretty accents.

Thanks! It came from a local plant store. They sell trees every year. I’d have to ask Shawn the name of the place, because I forgot.
My husband and 11 year old daughter “announced” that we’re getting a colored tree this year. I immediately panicked. My tree decorations never look like the magazines and I try so hard to follow the online videos but total fail. The color choices are a deep turquoise blue or fuchsia. I’ve already lost and haven’t started. I love the red though. I’ll be following for ideas.
