I can’t believe it’s been a year and a half since we (my dad) build my bold blue DIY media console for last fall’s One Room Challenge. I was one of 20 featured designers chosen to transform a space. When I revealed this space, my handles for my DIY media console hadn’t come in, but I had to show it off without them!
Since then, the handles have been received and installed, and I’ve been meaning to show them to you for a while now. I chose the MODO cabinet pulls from Schaub & Company and they are FABULOUS! They’re oversized at 16 7/8″ elevating my DIY media console to a level I’m not sure many other pulls would have. The gold, knurled finish gives it that luxe feel that I’m always looking for in all the décor I bring in my home.
If you kept up with the design of my living room for the One Room Challenge, you’d know that my DIY media console is literally three, inexpensive (about $100 each) 36″ wall cabinets with baseboards at the bottom and plywood at the top. It’s a HUGE piece finished and would cost a couple thousand dollars if I bought something new with a similar look/size. While this was a budget project, I’m not really a “budget” person and love a high-end look, so I knew I wanted to take it up a notch with some BOMB pulls/handles. These were so perfect!
My moody living room has just a few more elements coming before I’d consider it complete – like some wall art and another console table. If you’re wondering where that stuff is going to go, LOL, just wait… you’ll see. For now, I’d love to know your thoughts on my new handles. If you’re ever building your own DIY media consoles, always go luxe with your handles/knobs!

I’m excited to be one of Google’s paid early testers for their Thank with Google pilot program. Thank with Google is an experimental feature that allows you to purchase a virtual sticker and directly show your appreciation for content on my website. As a loyal supporter, you can now feel more connected and engaged because you have the ability to express yourself and share what my work means to you.
There are a variety of stickers to select from and every time you send a paid sticker, you can add a personal message which I enjoy receiving. For me, these virtual stickers translate into direct revenue to support the work that goes into the content that you are enjoying on my blog.
You can find the Thank with Google feature in multiple places on my site, including in my sidebar, as a button at the top of all blog posts, and as a button floating at the bottom of your screen on this and all blog posts. If you try it out, let me know what you think! Your support means the world to me.
Till next time!
