Pink Walls? Don't Miss this Pink Home Office Transformation

I posted a whole lot of behind the scenes on Instagram of this pink home office for a repeat client. But, I never shared a full tour of the space on the blog.

Warning: these aren’t the best photos, I know! I actually took these with my cell phone at almost 9 o’clock at night, using only the overhead light and the lamp on the desk. That really washed out a lot of the color, and these photos do this room no justice! I don’t know when I would be able to get professional images, and figured it was way past the time to share this space, so here goes…

Let’s start with a before photo:

This transformation is for a repeat client, and because she both loves my design aesthetic and trusts my process, she opted to book me to design her home office through my One Day Makeover service. This service is specifically for clients that want the “HGTV reveal” full of surprises and a big reveal. Clients won’t usually see anything but a “concept board” until the reveal. Sometimes, if I want to bring in something risky, I’d show my client for approval, but for the most part, the concept board makes sure my client and I are on the same page, and everything after that is a surprise to my client.

My client loves pink, so I made sure to add pink elements to the concept board. I’ve already done two other spaces in her home using pink (her master bedroom and her guest bedroom), so I really wanted to bring in some pink on the walls. On the concept board, I also showed some black and white elements, a cubby storage unit, gold metal pieces, gray, and lots of accessories. All of which I added into my client’s home office.

Let’s first talk about these pink walls! Initially, I was planning on doing white walls (like I did for her guest bedroom) or black and white striped walls. I knew the pink was risky, as most people wouldn’t paint their walls pink, but my client was all for it. The Behr Marquee ‘Noble Blush’ was the perfect shade of pink! If you want to do a pink home office, try to stick to one shade of pink and bring in other tones to either soften the color (if you’re using a darker pink) or make the color feel more sophisticated (if the color is too soft and/or “too girly”).

So, on this main wall, I have two cubby units turned vertically (they can be turned horizontally, as well) with this gorgeous, abstract art piece in the middle. I styled the cubbies with lots of accessories and books that my client already owned, but didn’t have space for. I love mixing a bookcase with both books and accessories.

Tip: lay your books both vertically and horizontally on a bookcase to make it more interested. Layer in accessories, as well, to give the arrangement more depth.

The desk was a last minute find for the room, since the initial desk that I picked out ended up being discontinued. Once I found this one, I KNEW it was more perfect than the first. The wood top and gold base makes the room feel grown up, when pink could sometimes read “girly” and child-like. The rug was also a piece that brought some sophistication to the room, because it had lots of texture and muted colors that gave the room some depth. I used textured white curtains, a gold curtain rod, and gold, rhinestone finials.

This pink swivel chair and stool combo is perfect for my client to have a place for one or two people to sit. This helps her small, pink home office function well for inviting her own clients in. She can also utilize the swivel chair, herself, and kick up her feet to watch TV.

Over this gorgeous whitewashed cabinet, is where the TV will sit, which can be seen from all the seating positions of the room. This cabinet can house all the stuff my client wants hidden. I just love mixing open and closed storage in a home office!
