Before and After – Black and White Master Bathroom

I worked on this black and white master bath project a LONG time ago, but I’ve been sharing it on Instagram and remembered that I never shared it here on the blog. Then, my client actually moved out of her home right after we had her first install, so I never got a chance to get professional photos taken OR finish up the last couple of details. It’s a good thing I took decent(ish) photos with my phone, so I can share them with you!

Let’s start with the before photos.

As you can see, my client had tan and red walls in the bathroom that just didn’t work for the room. The red was pretty harsh and the tan just wasn’t a good color. The room wasn’t reflective of my client’s personality at all.

You can see the mirrors weren’t centered (which we adjusted a bit as you’ll see later), nor were the light fixtures, which my client had literally JUST purchased and installed before hiring me. This meant that I couldn’t change those at all.

My client has loads of personality, dresses well, admired moody fashions and interiors, and loved the color black. She also made it clear that she wanted a mostly masculine room, but wanted some feminine touches. Being around my client gave me so much insight into what I wanted the rooms to look like. She wanted a space that was bold, but accessible, and wanted lots of luxurious elements. I had sooooo many ideas.

Initially, we were going to change the accent tile around the tub and the floors, but after we had laid out the plan for the bathroom, my client hit me with a surprise. She was planning on moving soon! She still wanted to decorate the two rooms, but now, our budget was slashed a bit. So, tiles were out.

Plans for the bathroom were to paint the walls, paint the cabinets, change the knobs, adjust the mirrors so that they were a bit more centered, and add some decorative accents.

We painted the tub niche in 4” vertical black and white stripes that turned out amazing! We also installed these gorgeous bamboo blinds from Lowe’s that were the perfect contrast. The black faux snakeskin cornice board was custom made. Contact me if you want to have a custom cornice made for any room in your home.

This mirrored table was in another room in my client’s home, but wasn’t being used, so I brought it in the bathroom for my client to put her bath salts, bubble baths, and candles on. She loves to take baths, so I wanted to make sure the experience was luxurious. The mirror and glass accents are ultra glam.

My client is a music lover and really wanted to use this music poster here. It isn’t an idea piece of art for a bathroom, but it works and speaks to her personality.

We installed these floating shelves (from Target), which made for the perfect place to display jars for Q-Tips & cotton balls, fresh white towels, and one of my favorite pieces in the bathroom: this sculpture!

I got it from At Home and am so glad I didn’t pass it up.

The fresh white paint on the walls made a world of difference and is welcomed after walking through the dark black walls and wallpaper of the master bedroom (I’ll share the before and after in a couple days).  Painting the ugly brown cabinets Limousine Leather by Behr (my favorite black) made them look brand new and ultra-luxe. The handles are from Home Depot. I plan to use the same ones in my kitchen renovation. They’re beautiful!
