Blue and White Transitional Dining Room Makeover + a White Entryway

I LOVE dining room projects, so much so that this blue and white transitional dining room is one of my favorite projects to date, along with my eclectic dining room project with the gorgeous art and black walls.

This project here, is in the home of the same client from the blue and green transitional living room project I shared last week. Besides the living room and kitchen area from that project, I also redecorated the dining room and entryway for the client.

The entryway was a fairly simple project, because we opted to keep the walls white, but I wallpapered the small entry area with the most beautiful (yet, subtle) mica wallpaper. I also added and styled a demilune console table for storing dog leashes, keys, and for checking yourself in the mirror. The coat rack was a last minute piece that looks soooo good in this space. It’s so stylish, yet really functional for my clients, since they needed a place to put their reusable canvas totes, jackets, and bags.

My client doesn’t like an overload of accessories, so I kept it pretty simple in the entryway. I like the way the framed map of New Orleans nods to the oak wood in the rest of the home. On top of the demilune table, I styled a tray, glass dog, and a vase, with this beautiful black mirror from TJMaxx.

The dining room went through a big change, with the new blue walls. I brought in some paint samples and my clients chose the one I was hoping they did: ‘Endless Sea’ by Sherwin-Williams. The mirrors help bounce around all the natural light and the architectural prints were a perfect fit with my client’s personality. The fun, colored prints over the bar cabinets were Society6 prints that I’m so happy they went for!

The bar cabinets are seriously my favorite pieces in the room. The door flips down for serving and mixing drinks and the two drawers at the bottom are great for storing dishware, glassware, and linens. The piece is so versatile.

The client’s table was custom made before I was hired and the side chairs were in great shape, so we opted to switch out the head chairs and recover the seats on the original side chairs. The fabric I used to recover the chairs is a really pretty paisley that I also used to make custom pillows in my client’s living room.

The chandelier was original to the home and my client loved it and so do it. It went with the style of the home and the new decor.

I used an assortment of blue and white vases for the centerpiece of the dining table and I love how beautiful they look with flowers in some of them, but they’d look beautiful alone, as well. This is just the start, though, as I’m hoping these 5 vases will encourage my client to add to this grouping as she finds more blue and white pieces she loves.
