A new series where I share things I’m currently obsessed with, updates from past design projects, and new décor & places I’ve discovered.
What I’m Obsessed With
My new green paint color in my living room!
So, I basically bragged for the last month and a half about how beautiful Behr Marquee’s Park Avenue was in my living room (you can see the color below), then went and painted the room Sherwin-Williams’ Garden Gate.
And, although Park Avenue IS beautiful and I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a great, deep, neutral color, I have to say that Garden Gate is definitely more up MY alley. I seriously feel like if I could have created my own color, this would be the exact shade I’d come up with.
It’s the perfect green to pose as a background to all my art. And, it’s going to go sooooo good with the other decor I have planned for the living room. Stay tuned, because I’ll be sharing living room plans and more photos within the next couple of weeks.
Learning about my Ancestry
I’m probably super late to this, but the last few months I’ve been obsessed about my ancestry. I didn’t know much about my family past my great grandmother on my mom’s side, so I was super happy to have my grandmother help me track our family tree. I’ve went as far as finding when my 6th great-grandmother was manumitted (released from slavery) in 1801!
Trudy Lynn Elliot’s Decorative Art
When I found her art on Instagram, I knew that I’d be saving all her pieces to my Pinterest wish list board. She does the most beautiful displays with shells and feathers. And, she pairs many of them with shibori! Y’all! If I didn’t think it was distasteful to start a GoFundMe for this, I’d really be advertising it right now. The mini cowrie shell piece below would be perfect in my living room! Can you picture it on my new green walls??
Project Updates
Mardi Gras AirBNB
I literally have one set of curtains that I have to go back and install and I’ll share photos!
#TransitionalNOLAProject
I revealed the living room already and the dining room will be revealed tomorrow!
The #GentillyTransitionalDualRoom
This project is one of my “One Room Makeover” projects, where the clients call me in to transform a room in one day. The way this service works is I go over to meet for a design consultation and then the clients give me their budgets and we schedule a date for the One Room Makeover. There are no design boards for this service and my clients give up a lot of control to allow me to just do my thing. I do, however, discuss extensively with my clients their wants, needs, and style, so that I’m able to pull off a look that my clients love! Below is a sneak peek of the room, which is a living room/dining room combination, and if you want more details on the One Room Makeover package, check out my services page.
So, that’s all for now, y’all! Be sure to check back new week for the next edition of Sunday’s Best!
Till next time,
