Can you believe that we’re more than halfway through with the One Room Challenge? Just two more weeks and we’re revealing my client’s guest bedroom!
To recap, here’s the other week’s posts:
Week 1 – Joining the One Room Challenge
Week 3 – Updates on New (Thrifted) Dresser, Chandelier, and Floor Plan
Week 4 – DIY Headboard
The worst part of joining in on this challenge is that my project is so small that it’s hard to spread updates over the first 5 weeks (well, 6 weeks now that we’ve been given an extension of an extra week), without letting you see too much. The room is really tiny and I can’t put too much in it. So, I’m forced to only share snippets, which I know might make y’all anxious! LOL!
But, today I’m sharing a sneak peek of the painted purple dresser that I’ve thrifted. It’s going to sit on the left side of the bed and will have some beautifully curated accessories on top and a mirror on the wall above it.
Here’s what the dresser looked like when I picked it up:
When you’re painting a thrifted piece of furniture, make sure you ALWAYS sand and prime the piece before painting! I actually coated this dresser with two coats of primer after sanding, because I really wanted the color to be extra saturated!
I’ve painted it Sherwin-Williams’ Autumn Purple in a semi-gloss finish. I’m obsessed with this color and now this dresser! It’s the perfect fall shade of purple, but will look gorgeous all year round in this bold, colorful room!
Initially, I was going to get some cute, but cheap, knobs for the dresser and planned on doing two per drawer, but instead decided to SPLURGE (at $13.99 each) on these gorgeous, oversized acrylic handles from Hobby Lobby. I’m also spraying the silver hardware gold.
Ya’ll! I CAN.NOT.WAIT for you to see this dresser’s new look, but in the meantime, make sure you check out the week 5 updates of the 20 featured designers of the One Room Challenge and also the week 5 updates of the other guest participants like me! There are so many reveals that I’m excited about!
So, that’s all you’re getting for now! Check back next week to see new deets on this bold, colorful guest bedroom for the One Room Challenge!
Till next time,
That color totally transformed this piece into a gorgeous, chic dresser! I cannot wait to see the finished space.
Thank you, Libbie!
