Hey guys!
Today I have something special for you! I always feature other Designers and their projects. I love to feature fellow designers, but lately I’ve been wanting to feature before and afters of other decor enthusiasts that are either decorating as a hobby or on their way to becoming a Designer. I have my Instagram friend Jessica sharing her before and after of her makeover of a friend’s office.
Here’s what Jessica has to say about her project:
“This small space, approximately 11ft x 5ft, is a part of a larger 4 story counseling center. The center is very old, with out dated features and furnishings. The therapist, and a good friend of mines, wanted change desperately due to the problem of lack of cohesion, over crowdedness, and an overall out dated, bland look. The things that were most important for the client was to consider that since she specializes in families with kids, and with couples, she wanted something that gave room for both sorts of populations. On one hand, something that was fun and playful, and on the other hand something that was warm, comfortable, inviting, and intimate. Although the space was very small, I still managed to streamline together the design in a manner that was fitting for both mature couples and the kiddos who want to enjoy the colorful poufs. (Which not to mention, my inexpensive diy bold art right above the poufs surely came in handy.) Another challenge I had was that I wasn’t allowed to paint the walls so I used ceiling medallions, spray painted them silver gold and bronze to brighten up the space yet with a warm feeling. And although I do not have a picture, originally the desk was in the therapeutic space, so I expanded the space more by putting the desk in a small nook area that is right off of the office. I decluttered the nook and made room for the desk which fits so perfectly now!”
Jessica lives in Indianapolis, Indiana and was born and raised there. She’s a self taught decorator and like many of us: “truly gives God the glory for [her] artistic visions!” She is currently working on her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family therapy, and some day hope to incorporate both of her passions of designing and therapy together by helping families optimize their mental health functioning all through the design of their home. She wants to someday move to Southern California and design breath-taking homes, tv and movie sets, and small businesses. If you would like to connect to Jessica, she’d love for you to check out her Facebook page (where her design album is for public viewing), https://m.facebook.com/
