I’m so excited to share my client’s colorful guest bedroom! If you need to catch up to the previous weeks, do that before scrolling down, if you’d like!
Week 1 – Joining the One Room Challenge | Week 2 – The Design & Plan | Week 3 – Updates on New (Thrifted) Dresser, Chandelier, and Floor Plan | Week 4 – DIY Headboard | Week 5 – Purple Painted Dresser | Week 6 – Gallery Wall
Now, onto the room!
This tiny guest bedroom used to have purple walls, a full bed, and other random pieces.
Bare with me, I don’t have the best after photos, but you can still see how beautiful this space is!
Now, the room is bright, white, with fun bursts of color!
I painted the walls white, from the lavender color the room was previously, and I (and my client) am so glad I did! I don’t usually paint walls white, but I felt like this room was the perfect project to lighten up from my mostly dark interiors.
Remember the gallery wall that I gave you a peek at? It features black frames (clearance frames that I spray painted black) and fun art in shades of black, white, gold, green, and pink. My favorite is probably the hamburger!
And, remember the headboard that I made?? It’s probably another one of my favorite parts of this room. I was initially going to go with a solid black pattern, then something gold. But, when I saw this black and white snake print fabric, I KNEW it would be perfect!
Because this room is so tiny, I knew I was going to have two separate zones on either side of the bed. The left side, with the thrifted dresser I painted purple, serves as the spot for my client’s guests to get dressed. The dresser came out so much better than I expected and I’m so glad I didn’t add the legs like I initially planned.
Please ignore the wrinkled blanket. I was swamped for time and couldn’t steam them in time. I’ll catch it next time I go to my client’s home and will update the pics. I promise! But, anyways… I also really, REALLY love the shape of the geometric mirror over the dresser and the oversized scale of it.
Back to the dresser…
This shade of purple is GORGEOUS and those acrylic handles from Hobby Lobby seem to be made for this piece, because they look soooooo good together!
I went with all white bedding for the room and love how it pops against the hot pink iridescent velvet pillows from my shop. Then, I finished it with a blush throw that’s so soft and fluffy. The duvet has a very subtle pattern that I don’t have a close photo of, but it’s very luxe. The bedding gives off a hotel chic vibe that I love.
[warning]I’m having a holiday sale on all pillows in my shop, so if you love these on the bed, you should definitely take advantage of the sale![/warning]On the right side of the bed, I made this a zone for displaying books and pretty items, along with some storage for jewelry, phones, and anything else guests might want to put away. I love the glass side table and I think it was perfect for bringing in some glam into the room.
I chose to do the sconce, instead of a table lamp, to maximize the space on the top of the table. I’m in love with the sconce, y’all! It’s super cute and provides really good light.
On the small wall, opposite the bed, I kept it simple. My client loved adding the quote to the letterboard. I know she’s going to have a lot of fun switching it up over time.
I am loving this colorful guest bedroom makeover and would love to know what you think! Leave me a comment below. I can’t wait for the next One Room Challenge!
