If you can remember, I revealed my tiny kitchen a few months ago. You saw my cute black and white rug that covered much of the kitchen. The size of the rug was a big problem for me, because it was hard to keep it clean from food splashing from the stove. Another big issue with the rug was that it slid every time someone walked over it. I almost bust my head last week rushing to the faucet to keep my sink from overflowing. On my fall down to the floor (it felt like it took 30 minutes to fall), I seriously thought I was gonna die! Surprising, my head landed on the carpet of my dining room (my kitchen is extremely tiny), so I didn’t really hurt myself.
I needed a rug pad.
I was contacted by Rug Pads USA to review a rug pad and chose the Super-Stop Natural Rubber Non-Slip Rug Pad. They sent me the pad at the same size of my kitchen rug: 3×5′. The one I chose is 100% natural rubber. Their rug pads are made in the USA and prevents slipping under all types of area rugs. Rug pads can also provide moderate protection for your floor against color discoloration from dyed rugs.
Once I put the rug pad on the floor, I realized that I really wanted a different size rug for my floor, but really LOVE the one I already had. I first thought about cutting the rug, but decided against it. My solution: fold the rug on one of the long sides to make it smaller. This way I can always use the rug in another location at its original size.
Then, I had to cut the rug pad down to size, because it was the size of the rug. I simply used my scissors to cut the pad right on the floor (underneath the rug).
Now, my rug doesn’t slip at all. This rug pad has seriously been EXTREMELY convenient for us!! We spend a lot of time in our kitchen and it irritated us to have to move the rug back in place 3-4 times a day.
You can definitely tell that the rug is folded under the cabinet, but it doesn’t bother me at all.
Rug Pads USA has plenty of different rug pads for you to choose from. If you’re looking for extra comfort, Rug Pads USA also offers memory foam pads. Felt pads are available for extra floor protection, which are perfect when you have light colored floors.
So, if you’re using area rugs on hard floors, it’s best to use rug pads underneath your rugs to protect your floor, provide comfort, and prevent the rug from slipping.

Haha…isn’t funny how falls always feel like slow motion? Glad you made it! Rug pads are a must. My husband isn’t a fan of rugs in the kitchen, even with rug pads, so I haven’t been able to win the battle on having a kitchen rug. Thanks for posting!

I haven’t quite had this happened to me but I do have problems with my rugs “walking” especially under my dining room table. I need to remember this. Thanks for linking up on #HomeMattersParty Looking forward to seeing what you link up next week.

I am definitely a proponent for rug pads. I’ve had rugs in the past that just slide around like crazy, but putting a pad underneath them keeps them nice and sturdy. I hadn’t thought about how rug pads could protect your floor against discoloration, though; that’s a good thing to keep in mind. Thanks for sharing!
