I can’t believe we’re so close to the end of the One Room Challenge already! I’m seeing my home transform into such beautiful spaces and I’m excited to start showing IG live walkthroughs!
For the newbies… the One Room Challenge is a weekly series started and hosted by Linda of Calling it Home, where we transform a room from start to finish and reveal it at the end. Linda invites 20 participants as featured designers to post updates on Wednesdays, but anyone, anywhere, can join in as a guest participant and post their updates on Thursdays. Typically the ORC is six weeks, but this round we have EIGHT weeks to transform our spaces, having the big reveals on November 17th!
If this is your first time visiting my blog, I’m a NOLA-based interior designer & influencer. I have an online shop and am open to the public for local shopping, as well!!
I’m transforming my living room, bar, hallways, and kitchen (minor updates). If you want to see all the previous ORC challenges I participated in, check out my Week 1 intro post.
Last week I showed you how I am using the paint colors, wallpapers, fabrics, and tiles in my home and this week I want to show you some progress!
First, let’s talk about the Bushoong Kuba wallpaper from The Pattern Collective! It’s a small scale tribal print in a brown (yes, brown) and taupe pattern and it’s everything! From a distance it is interesting, but up close its *chef’s kiss* incredible!
I’m sure you can also see the gorgeous custom DIVISION light fixture from Blueprint Lighting. It’s literally one of my favorite elements in my home. I knew it would be good, but it looks so incredible in person. I was able to choose the style and color of the fixture, which was easy and exciting! I chose “Natural Brass” for the main part of the fixture and “Livid” for the enameled mesh metal shades. The red is so unexpected and will help ground the bold fabrics I’m using in the space. Plus, this fixture looks incredible on my wall of wallpaper!
The gorgeous STANTON floor lamp is from Hudson Valley Lighting and will live on the opposite side of the room. Right now, the piano is still on that wall, so I haven’t been able to install the wallpaper there. The piano needs a lot of people to move it and “people” have been tough to come by these days. But, I’ll get it done this week, hopefully! The STANTON floor lamp is brass with a black marble base that is so stunning! There are white striations throughout the marble that are subtle, yet striking, making this a bold statement choice for my soon-come seating area! I tend to use heavy furnishings in my home so that they aren’t easily knocked over by my husband or husky. The marble base on this one makes it perfectly secure in the corner it’ll sit. It’s heavy! I need two hands and a lot of effort to move it!
Okay, now…
How about my interior doors!!
Okay, so this is a peek into my guest bathroom. Want to see more of it? I haven’t posted it on the blog, but here’s a couple of REELS I did for IG: custom shower curtain & chalk paint painted cabinet.
I told you I was updating my hallway – new interior doors were an absolute must! In the last post, I mentioned how badly I wanted a bold hallway, since my living room walls and furniture was neutral, so I chose to paint all my doors this beautiful jewel tone. I used Kelly Moore’s AcryPlex Interior Paint in Bay Isle Point (in satin).
The black Emtek handles look incredible against these doors! The handles are heavy and sturdy and just brings that luxury element to the hallway. These are the Emtek Select, T-Bar Knurled Lever, Disk Rosette in Flat Black.
Okay, I purposely left the hallway paint color a surprise! What do you think??
I’m in love! I used Kelly Moore’s AcryPlex Interior Paint in Stiletto (in eggshell). The black looks stunning against the jewel tone teal color of the doors and really gives it this sexy, swanky vibe I was going for! I have a table, some art, and a wall sconce that has to go here in the hallway and can’t wait to show it to you! Hopefully, I’m be able to update you with next week’s update, but if not… you’ll see the finished space in all it’s glory for the final reveal on November 17th!
Next week, I’ll update you on the media cabinet (that you can see being built on the wallpapered wall above) and my bar!
