Painting my office was one of the first things I did when we moved into our home in April. I first painted it a grayish purple that I loved for like – a day and a half. I was not feeling such a light color in my office (no pics of the walls that color, sorry). I wanted some COLOR!
After realizing that I wanted my office to be colorful and to be reflective of the way I like to design, I came up with this color/fabric combo:
I knew I wanted lots of highly saturated color and a lot of contrast. First, I knew that I wanted to paint the inside of the office door a mustard/golden color. I knew it was unconventional and would be unexpected, but I really wanted something bold that contrasted against the paint color. For the paint color, initially, I was thinking purple, but once I got the paint sample on the wall, I realized that purple just didn’t feel right. And, I also realized that I didn’t want anything too dark. So, I went to Home Depot to look through some Behr Marquee samples. Behr Marquee has seriously become my favorite paint for quick projects, for it’s true one coat coverage. I’m not just saying that. I’ve used it plenty of times and have only used ONE COAT. So, at Home Depot, I found two beautiful pinks that I wanted to try.
I showed the colors on Instagram and y’all loved them! The color on the left is Lady Guinevere and the one on the right is Antoinette. I went with Antoinette, because it was more “mauve” than pink and the other color was just a bit too bubble gum-ish for me. Even though the Lady Guinevere was a beautiful color, I’m so glad I went with Antoinette! It’s electric, yet inviting, and both light and moody, the perfect backdrop for the home office of a creative.
The color turned out beautiful, but there’s still A LOT to do. I need to paint my door, paint the trim, change all the pinky-beige electrical outlets, make art, hang my TV, DIY my fabric corkboards, paint and add cushion to my cheap bar stools, and make a fabric shade for my window. LOL
One of my favorite things about my office, is my craft table/desk. It looks really skimpy, but it’s one of the best purchases I made in a long time. It folds all the way down to this middle piece you see here. So, it could literally fit in the closet or corner of the room. It’s six feet wide while expanded and folds down to 15 feet wide when closed. Plus, there’s a drawer and shelf at the bottom. Genious! I haven’t had to fold it down, yet, but if we need to accommodate a lot of guests and the guest room isn’t enough, we could always fold this table up and put an air mattress in my office.
The backside of my table isn’t very pretty – at all, actually – so, I’m going to make a cute detachable skirt that’s attached with velcro for easy cleanup and storing away.
On the wall behind my desk, I’m doing a set of three cork boards. Or, maybe magnetic boards? Yea, magnetic boards! These boards are for design inspiration and a place to organize fabrics and wallpapers that I’m obsessed with.
To the left of the window, I’m doing a couple of DIY art pieces that I can’t wait to share. I’m hanging my TV on the right side of the window. I’m not sure of what kind of fabric shade I’m using on the window, but I’m thinking it might be a white linen with either ribbon detail or a beaded trim.
My closet is getting a total overhaul. I’m removing everything to paint the walls white. Or, maybe the same pink color. What do you think? Then, I’m going to put my Organized Living wall shelving system up. Remember this system in my old office – the dining room that was converted? On the left of the closet, I’m putting my peg board up to organize all my sewing materials. The brown wood table that you saw will be painted and given the same gorgeous treatment as my bar top in my living room.
I’m also going to be completely organizing my Rubbermaid wall shelves. This system has gotten A LOT of opinions from people. They either love it or hate it. I, personally, LOVE IT. I wouldn’t usually love the tracks showing, but it’s an office, so it’s not a big deal. What I really love about the system is that it’s really easy to install (check out this tutorial), it’s really affordable, and can be customized to whatever design you can think of. But, back to organizing these shelves. I’m already gonna have A LOT going on in this space, so I want to make sure that I can have some sense of calm SOMEWHERE in this room. I’m gonna share a bookcase styling post in the future, but spoiler alert: I’m gonna try and get rid of all the different storage boxes and magazine files and stick to 1-2 colors.
Lastly, you can’t see my ugly ceiling fan in any of the pictures, but I’m switching it out for my ZUOMod Pilsner chandy that was in my dining room in my apartment. And, I know my carpet is kinda ugly, but it’s staying until ya girl can come up with money for some new floors! Ha!
So, y’all following me on Instagram, right? Because, that’s where you get to see me show a lot of behind the scenes stuff around my home. Follow me!
What do y’all think? Would you paint walls in your home pink?
Till next time,

It looks absolutely amazing! I love that color with all of your pale pink accents!
