Sooooo… basically, I decided to jump into the One Room Challenge last minute. Well, not last minute, since today is the first day of the challenge (for guest participants). But, I didn’t decide to join the challenge until about 40 minutes ago, when my client signed off on her guest bedroom project.
This is gonna be a super fun project, so I thought, why not join into the One Room Challenge. What’s the One Room Challenge? It’s created by and hosted by Linda of Calling it Home and is a 6-week decorating extravaganza where a whole lot of crazy people (like me) commit to completely transforming a room within 6 weeks.
I transformed my kitchen as part of the One Room Challenge, but didn’t make the deadline, but I’m completely determined to make this one, so follow along!
What’s so challenging about this project is that it’s a small room with a limited budget, but I want to go bold and colorful. I love highly saturated color, so I’m gonna maximize the entire room to bring in a lot of fun color and bold elements.

Here’s what the room looks like now:
The inspiration
Basically everything is going, except the bed frame. The paint is changing, the shelves are being removed, that metal rack… gone. I have a lot in mind for this project and I have to be really creative to pull off a bold, colorful room that is also welcoming enough for a guest bedroom. There will definitely need to be some balance and I’ll have to tone down some of my wild thoughts. Here’s what I’m thinking so far:
Doesn’t this look like fun? My client gave me complete creative control… sort of. She did make note that she wanted a space that was light and modern, so I’m going to make sure I give her that.
The main colors used will be pink, plum, and lime green, with gold metallics. You’ll see exactly how I plan to use those colors next week. The walls will be a light color, but I do plan on adding a feature wall with some color. I’ll have a gallery wall of black (or white) frames and white bedding. I plan to add some fun furniture pieces, too. I can’t wait to dive all the way in! When styling the guest room, I want to make it extremely inviting and have all the essentials guests need to have a comfortable stay. More on that later, though.
So, make sure you check in next Thursday (and every Thursday for the next 5 weeks) to see more of the design and to some room updates.
So, what do y’all think about the plan? Could you go bold in a guest bedroom? Let me know in the comment section!
Till next time,

Yes, yes, and yes! The colors, the styles, I’m so in love with this design and can’t wait to see it materialize. And that cute little pup in top pic will look perfect in there ❤️

I love your inspiration! That same Ikea Rast Hack (pink campaign dresser) is part of my inspiration too for my master bedroom makeover. I’m excited to see this come together!
