If you’re a student that’s moved into a dorm room this semester (or will be living in a dorm at a future date), I’m sure you understand that your dorm room will become your second home. And, just like your room at home (your parent’s home), you want to make sure that your space is stylish, functional, and personalized just for you.
Making the Most of the Small Space
One of the reasons I like the dorm room above is that it makes good use of space. Below the bed is a desk and plastic storage drawers that can be used to hold clothes, hair products, craft supplies, or whatever else is needed. The string lights on the wall by the bed make the room look cozy and fun. You can clearly see how organized this dorm room is. Because, dorms are usually really small, organization is key to having a dorm room that will be comfortable and functional.
Here’s another dorm room (above) with fun string lights. This room also has one bed on top of the other, further maximizing floor space. You can see that the area underneath the bottom bed is used for extra storage. You can do the same in your dorm room (underneath your bed) with plastic bins and boxes that can easily slide in and out from under the bed.
This looks more like a shared bedroom, but the use of space is essentially what you often see in dorm rooms. Check out how the beds are mounted high to allow the space underneath to act as an entertainment/living room area. There’s a futon under one bed and a TV under the other. I also love the glam elements, like the shag rug and cabinet. You can see that there are floating ottomans that can be used to put trays (for food and drinks) or extra seating.
